Chris: You know what they say--life throws you a gutter ball, you got to slap on the old rosin bag and step up to the line.

Log line: Phil and Michelle have marriage problems; Cicely has a bowling team; Lester Haines offers to finance Ed's film, if Ed no longer sees Heather.

Well it's bowling time in Cicely. Spirits are high as the Cicely Sweethearts welcome the Capra contingent, particularly Michelle, to the fold as they prepare to defend their championship title at the annual Borough of Arrowhead mixed doubles invitational. Unfortunately, the Capras are fighting. Again. Things look bad for the Sweethearts. But, in the end, they manage to pull it together and play as a team putting Cicely over the top by 3 points. Rah, rah. On the romantic front, Chris bends over backwards to pair Maggie up with young Professor Pickering, only to whisk her away at the very end.

Lester Haines has his way with Ed, promising to finance his film provided that Ed make a few minor changes like THE ENDING? It seems Lester has a little problem with country boy gets city girl and attempts to buy Ed off in order to keep him away from his darling daughter. No danger of that though, as it seems young Heather is using Ed simply to irritate her father. Poor Ed. In the end, he tells Lester he can't make a film with someone who doesn't think he's good enough for his daughter, and, in a particularly moving scene, apologizes to Maurice, revealing how much they mean to each other.
